About Emerald:
Emerald School of Excellence is Charlotte, North Carolina’s first and only recovery high school, providing a safe, supportive, and accredited academic environment for students overcoming substance use and mental health challenges.
As a private, 501(c)(3) school, Emerald ensures that no student is turned away due to financial need. Tuition covers less than a third of Emerald’s annual operating budget—donations, grants, and community support make the difference.
Every student deserves a chance to learn in a space where recovery and education can thrive together.
